L.I to construct something that flies.

Today I have accomplished the first activity of the summer learning journey/nano girl, that required me to build something that can fly. There was so many options for me to choose, such as a kite, but i chose to make a paper plane as it was the easiest and required not much work. I watched a instructional video to create this paper plane. The process was very easy and fun.

Gold Attitude 4 ~ Sir Edmund Hillary

L.I Research a New Zealander who has a positive attitude despite difficulties they have faced.
Sir edmund Hillary by Sulia Pepa

To achieve and recieve my Gold Attitude Badge, I was required to Research a New Zealander who has a positive attitude despite difficulties they have faced. I chose to Research Sir Edmund Hillary. Sir Edmund Hillary is well known for being one of the first peopleto climb mt everest or to reach the highest peak(along side is partner Tenzing Norgay).

I chose Hillary because it must've been a hard journey climbing up mt everest, especially if death was just around the corner, He and Tenzing Norgay never stopped and kept on going.

I really enjoyed doing this task because I could see how much Edmund Hillary had an impact on New Zealand and, especially the world; I hope to be as influencial one day.

Gold Confience 1 ~ How to stand up to bullies

L.I Create a DLO on how to stand up to bullies.

To achieve my Gold Confidence Badge, I was required to create a DLO of how to stand up to bullies. bullying is intimidating or harming someone negatively.(physically, verbally & cyberbullying). bullying is very distracting and traumatising no matter the circumstances, and no body should ever go through bullying; this is why i chose to create a DLO on how to stand up to bullies. I created 5 ways, which is setting goals, self worth, surrounding yourself with positive energy, realise your bullies are insecure and talk to someone trustworthy.

I really enjoyed doing this activity, as I was able to spread my ways of standing up to bullies.

Lazy Sneakers: Maia Mariner Response 1 : I see me

L.I To Design a pair of sneakers that represent you and your cultural identity.

In this DLO, I have completed one of the I see me challenges. The challenge required me to customize a pair of sneakers(of your choice) that represents me. This idea was influenced by a 12 year old Maia Mariner(who is now year-11), who generated a non-profitable operation that allows children and teenagers in need of good quality sneakers. This idea came to her head as soon as she noticed some kids were not able to play sports, as they did not have the fitable footwear.

With this in mind, I created sneakers that I thought really connected to me and what I represent. I used Nike Dunks and picked a color palette of brown. I used a traditional tongan flower, that embody's tongan culture and the love of our traditions.I also used polyneasian patterns to represent the pasifika community in a whole, and how we standing together as one.

I really enjoyed doing this activity, as I was able to use my creativity to full-fill my calling as a polyneasian young woman.

Surgeon: Dr Semisi Lolohea Response 1 | I see me

L.I Share your thoughts about this ‘stand out thing’ by writing or creating something about it.

In this DLO I have completed one of the iseeme challenges, which required me to read a article regarding a General surgeon & Colorectal Surgeon Dr Semisi Lolohea, on how he came to do medicine.  With this in mind, I was reqiured to create a review on the article, which I found was very inspirational and motivational. I felt that me and Dr Lolohea had a lot in common, as we both have parents that were positivly influencial in our life. I also enjoyed how hard working he was to make a living for his family, which I wish I could do one day.

Mechatronic Engineer: Joyana Finch Response 2 | I see me

L.I to create a DLO that shows a future job you would like to have.

In this DLO I have completed one of the iseeme challenges, where I had to research a future job that I pursue in the future. To understand the task set, we were required to watch a video about Joyana Finch; A daughter of migration and also the very first woman of Pacific Island descent in history to graduate in Mechatronic Engineering.

Joyana Finch's video really influenced me to take a deeper dive into a the career that I wanted to pursue, Where I came upon Interior Design. When I took a closer look into Interior Designing, I felt like this was something that I would very well enjoy and take upon for the majority of my life.

In this Slide, I have included Why i would like to seek this career and what would be the qualifications I would need.

I really enjoyed this task because I was able to take a closer look into my future and so that I can be more prepared when it does come to that time.
