Ancient Greek Olympics

 LI: To present a DLO as a group about the ancient Greek olympics.

In our prezi it talks about the history, events, women in the olympics and also shares some interesting facts about the ancient Greek olympics The ancient Greek olympics would be held over five days the only kown date for the first olympics is 776 BC, the olympics started as a religous festival in honour of their God Zeus and was a time for peace and celebration. different sports would be played to the sports that are held in todays olympics sports such as pankration, the stade, jumping, boxing, horseraces, and many more were some of the events that were held during the Greek olympics. presenting our presentations as a group helpt make us feel more confident speaking infront of others.

I enjoyed this task becuase it was interesting to learn about the ancient Greek olympics.

Mars Landing Facts | Inquiry Toys

 L.I to gain more knowledge about the rovers in the mars landing. 

Our focus this week in inquiry is Toys. Are goal for this week was to create a rubber-band powered rover. With this in mind, we were acqiured to learn and gain more knowledge about the mars landing rovers. In our groups, we needed to search 10 interesting facts. We used the Nasa Site to find out these interesting facts. 

The first mars landing took place in July 4 1997. This was the first successful landing ever since 50 odd failed missons. 

The fact I found most interesting was that each rover had a name(Sojourner, Spirit, Opportunity, Curiosty and Perserverence. 

Pulleys | Simple Machines Inquiry

 L.I to learn how the system of a Pulley works, by creating a diagram.

Our focus this term for inquiry is Simple Machines. For LS2 to have a clear understanding; we were required to research how these simple machines manufacture and they're purpose. 

One of these Simple Machines are a Pulley. Pulleys are constructed by looping one or two wheels. They are sometimes used to move large weights by pressing down on one end of the rope, causing an upward tug at the other end. In this machine, there are 7 parts(Axle, wheel, rope/cable, laod, groove, hook and effort) for the machine to properly formulate. This can be seen in the Diagram shown above.

Isaac Newton | Reading/Science

 L.I to learn about Isaac Newton 

This week, LS2 has been working towards Simple Machines in Inquiry. Simple machines are fundamental mechanical machines for applying forces. A part of this process, we were required to learn about Isaac Newton. 

Isaac Newton is a English physicist and mathematician, astronomer, theologian and author. Newton is mostly known for his most historical discoveries, Such as Optics, the three laws of motion, the three laws of gravity, inventing calculus and etc. All of these discoveries has benefited science to become what it is today, and what it will become. 

In this DLO above, Juel, Peyton, Micah and I, have cooperated to create a digital learning object about Isaac Newton. In this DLO, it explains how his work is important, The life of Isaac Newton, What he discovered and how his work is connected to Simple Machines. 

I really enjoyed this activity, because I was able to learn about how his work has benefited today's science and how far he would go to test his theories. The most interesting fact that i found was that Newton actually discovered colours in his Optics theory. 

Celebrating the Summer Learning Journey

 LI: To celebrate the PBS Summer Learning Journey participants.

The Summer Learning Journey is a online organization, that helps children keep up with they're learning, through the digital screen. This is due to kids, lack of academic levels dropping throughout the holidays.

Panmure Bridge School was very proud to become apart of the SLJ Programme, as we have been the best school to complete the Summer Learning Journey Programme. 

The activities that were set, was created by Nano-Girl. Some teachers around NZ, had also contributed into making these activities, which most students really enjoyed.

 As apart of celebrating our achievements, Panmure Bridge has set different prizes and certificates at our school assemblies.

PBS, still remains with the title of top blogging school, in the whole of NZ. 

Congratulations to Sakshi on becoming, PBS top blogger, top commenter and First place top blogger for Manaiakalani. 

Leadership

 L.I to develop Leadership skills. 

Leadership, is a vital key into being succesful in the future. With Leadership we are able to overcome negative situations, and become more confident. In this DLO, Rj, Moti, Carter, Akuhata & I have worked together to complete this DLO. In this DLO, it shows all of the key attributes of of a what a leader shows, and what a leader is. Therefore, I group has learnt from this activity, about what it takes to be a leader, and why a leader plays a key role in leading. I really enjoyed learning about Leadership, as it has taught me to have confidence, and have a positive attitude. Here are the Results. 

Hydration & Health

 L.I to understand why staying hydrated is important for our learning and health. 

As you may know, our bodies are mostly made up of water. Drinking water regularly makes you hydrated and full of energy, but the opposite is being dehydrated. Being dehydrated is when your body isn’t getting enough water that it needs. This causes tiredness, lack of energy, dry lips, and dark colored urine. Each day it is important to fill your body with water, especially during school, when every time we breathe we lose more water. Water can help your body stay cool, and healthy. there are many benifits water can do for you

In groups of 2-4 we created a DLO explaining why being hydrated is good for both health and learning. In my group there was Tanisha, Peyton, Fau and I. We worked collaboratively to define, dehydration and hydration. 

 After reading this DLO I hope you have a good understanding on why is it very important to keep hydrated by drinking water, here are the results. 

Election 2 | Inquiry

LI: To think deeply about a change I would make.

If you were Prime Minister, what one thing would you do to change NZ for the better and why?

I would change the rent of some peoples houses, like $200 - $100 down, so for people who are having trouble providing things for their kids, they can focus on their kids and their education. 

Who will get my vote

 L.I To decide which political party will get your vote by making an informed .

In this DLO, I had decided which Political Party I will be voting for. I read policies of different political parties, and I fairly agree with the Green Parties Decision. I really liked that Green Party would involve young speakers in policy decisions, if they are affected with the policy. If I was 18 I would vote for Marama because they will do a lot for NZ.

DARE to make a choice

 L.I to showcase our learning on drug awareness.

In this DLO above, Matthew and I have worked Collaborativly on this DLO. This DLO is 'Dare to make a choice'. In this DLO, we have explained the counsequences that come with drugs, the side effects, why it is important to make wise choices and legal ad illegal drugs. In one of our learning sessions, we had learned the legal and illegal drugs. We had been given 6 scenario's(connected to drugs), which in groups, we had decided what the consequences would be. We had also learnt about the 3 different drug classes is when getting caught by the police. We were really shocked of about the amount of money and time was spent in prison. I really enjoyed this activity because it showed me the consequences of making bad choices.

Life Education

LI: To learn the safetys of Life Education.

In the Image seen below, LS2 has attended 2 sessions of Life Education. Life Education is a charity that educates and empowers children to make healthy choices so they can live full and healthy lives. In the 2 Life Education Sessions, we had learnt about the side affects of drugs, alcohol and smoking. We also learnt about the brain and Body. I really learnt alot from Life education, as of trying to chose the right things and avoinding peer preasure. 

Science Summary | Reading

This DLO is highlighting our summary about what we know about science. In our groups, we have been sharing our ideas on posted notes and found the key words. To then create a summary about the topic. We needed to skim and scam for the main ideas to create this DLO. We also had to join our ideas to create a more efficient idea.

Hauora Challenge 2 Collabrative Working

L.I to try and make the 4 walls stand with paper. 

In this DLO, Fau, Juel, Heavenly and I, had worked together collaborativly to make the 4 walls of paper stand. We had Collaborated and tried out options. We tried to find the most efficient strategy. This activity was fairly easy, as we talked and listened to others opinions. In this little Paragraph, I have wrote down what would happen if the walls fell.

Experimenting with Ultraviolet light

L.I To find the most efficient UV filter. 

LS2 has been trialing the elctronic sensor for the Kiwiriuos Project. We are working with Sarenga, Sonya, Evan, Dawn and Yvona, from the Auckland University. I found that the sensor's could sense what the day was like was the most effective filter to keep Zally safe from the UV light. My DLO will show you how I did this. 

Opstical Illusion | Inquiry

L.I to understand the meaning of a Opsticla Illusion.

Mr. Johnston came into LS2 to come and teach us about Optical Illusions. One of the most famous examples can be shown in this DLO. One of the most famous artist, know for their amazing Optical Illusion was M C Escher. O
