Tidy Drive | Cybersmart

L.I to keep a clean & tidy learning drive.

For us to have a healthy learning environment requires, responsibility and great organisation skills. This helps us keep tidy and save time.

Today, we have learnt about keeping a tidy drive. In this DLO, showcased above, i was required to complete the activities, that were set to me in these slides. In slide Two, it shows the instructions of creating a copy of any sort of digital learning poster. Those instructions were important, as it also helps clean your drive.

In slide Three, i needed to clean a persons drive. it all started with him having a messy drive, with the labeled DLO's giving us hints in which folder to put it in.

In slide four I was required to clean my own drive. It took me a really long time, as my drive was fairly messy. I also needed to go through a lot of DLOs as i had them un-labeled.

I really enjoyed this activity because it learns to keep me organized and get things done on time.

Financial Capabilites

LI: To understand a budget is a plan to save money.

A budget is an amount of income given for a certain time period. This activity was based off of strategizing how much money is spent with the given amount of money. Each question was there to test the most efficient strategy to us. We read the questions carefully, taking in the information we required in order to answer each of the five questions. The Smith family planned a museum night with the budget of $45. The entry fee was free for all of the kids but costed $20 for both of the parents/adults. The kids were allowed to take part in every activity costing them $18 for all three of the kids. With their remainder money ($7), they had ice-cream which was $2 for one scoop. In the end, the Smith family had $1 left and successfully spent within the budget of 45 dollars.

Provocation l Polynesian Panthers

LI: To evaluate (form an opinion) the text and respond to provocation.

A provocation is a purposeful action meant to bring out lawful or political topics with the desired caused to make someone angry or upset in mental, physical or emotional form. In short, a provocation is an action taken with desire to cause others to have strong feelings about a topic or issue. However, our DLO was not created for the purpose of making others angry but to share our opinion on the events of the 1970s, respectfully. In 1970, the New Zealand government sent armed police officers and dog squads to the homes of Polynesian people. They had batons and megaphones and would brutally force people without a current work visa out of their own houses and deport them back to their country of birth. In response, a group called the “Polynesian Panthers” were formed. The Polynesian Panthers were a group of university students protesting against the Dawn Raids and the rights for Social Injustice. ‘Power to the oppressed’. The authorities who were meant to keep New Zealand a safe place had permission to abuse their power in order to kick Pasifikan’s out of their homes. With this in mind, we think that our Government today (Labour) does not need to apologise for the actions of the past Government (National) not only because they are separate parties but also because Jacinda Ardern and her party is not at fault for the racist actions taken by National. However, we think that the current leader of National (Judith Collins) and the National Party members of today should be the one to issue an apology on behalf of those responsible for these events. This is because she is the head of National which is the party who were the cause of the Dawn Raids and deportation of Polynesian people. However, they do need to issue an apology publicly as it can potentially fix the open wounds that remain today. The apology should be proposed by the correct party members as a sign of empathy and remorse.

ASB Getwise

L.I to become more wiser with money

ASB GetWise - Financial literacy for kids | ASB

Today, LS2 worked with Marlon, working towards becoming smarter and wiser with money. For us to get a better understanding, we played a game that taught us to stop think and make good decisions. In this game, we were required to pretend as if we were going on a trip to Fiji. we need to provide, Passport fees, accommodations, Economy flight, Travel insurance, entertainment and food. We were budgeted with $1800, and were challenged to use this money wisely.

I really enjoyed doing Asb Getwise, because it helped us become more wiser and create good decisions with money. I hope we can do this again.

Challenge Seven : Google Drawn Fish

LI: to learn how to use Google Draws more confidently.

In this DLO above, Taua and I have worked together on the seventh cyber-smart challenge. These cyber-smart challenges help us to learn the basics of cyber-smart, Learn, create & share.

In this Challenge, we were required to attempt to make a fish. To make these fish, we first needed to watch a short clip of Mr Goodwin explaining how to create these fish. In this video, Mr Goodwin explained step by step how to create these fish.

Here are the results.

Isaac Newton | Reading/Science

L.I to learn about Isaac Newton

This week, LS2 has been working towards Simple Machines in Inquiry. Simple machines are fundamental mechanical machines for applying forces. A part of this process, we were required to learn about Isaac Newton.

Isaac Newton is a English physicist and mathematician, astronomer, theologian and author. Newton is mostly known for his most historical discoveries, Such as Optics, the three laws of motion, the three laws of gravity, inventing calculus and etc. All of these discoveries has benefited science to become what it is today, and what it will become.

In this DLO above, Juel, Peyton, Micah and I, have cooperated to create a digital learning object about Isaac Newton. In this DLO, it explains how his work is important, The life of Isaac Newton, What he discovered and how his work is connected to Simple Machines.

I really enjoyed this activity, because I was able to learn about how his work has benefited today's science and how far he would go to test his theories. The most interesting fact that i found was that Newton actually discovered colours in his Optics theory.
