Rock Paper Scissors

 L.I : To learn how to code the microbot also by playing rock,paper and scissors.

When I shake the microbit , It will choose a random number between I and 3 , I have to make varible called hand. If the number is one - The microbot wll show the symbol .If the number is two the symbol will show with a rock. If the number is three the microbot will show the symbol for scissors.  

Success | Using Abstract Nouns in Poems/Writing

LI: To write a abstract noun senses poem

Our task was to create a poem using metaphors and abstract nouns. A metaphor is a comparison of two things, saying one thing is the other without using ‘like’ or ‘as’. Abstract nouns are things the we can see but we can't physically touch it. The 5 senses are sight, hearing, taste, smell and feel. 

First, we chose a word from the list, our group picked success. After picking the word,we looked for the structure in the example given to us. Then, we created a poem with the structure. After writing the poem, we created a DLO about the poem. The word that my group decided on was Success. In our poem we express how it feels, looks, tastes, hears and smells like. We all worked collaborativly to complete and create this DLO. 

We really enjoyed this activity, because it taught us how to create metaphors and poems, using abstract nouns. 

Main Ideas | Myths & Legends

LI: To identify main ideas in the text.

Our group watched the video about the story of Rona and the moon and how the moon took rona away. Today we wrote about Rona and the moon it told us about how Rona was lazy and bossy and made her husband do everything for her. For this activity we wrote down the main ideas starting off with the important ideas than after that we then used our negotiation skills to pick out four very important ideas making sure that we all agree that they are very important ideas then after that we then pick out three vital ideas again making sure that we all agree that they are vital ideas.

I really enjoyed this activity because it strengthened our ability to negotiate with others.

Summarising | Myths & Legends

LI: To summarise the maori story of creation.

For inquiry we are learning about Taonga of storytelling or the treasure of storytelling cultural stories that have been passed down through our ancestors.  We learnt about the maori creation story and we also  summarised the story. We used this summarizing template to summarize the video that we watched of the maori creation story. The video told us about the story of papatuanuku and ranginui in the darkness and how they separated and how their son Tawhirimatea sent mighty storms and rain to show his rage. 

I really enjoyed this activity because I found it fun to learn about other cultures stories.

Flowcharts & Dice

 LI: To learn how to use flowcharts to plan coding. 

Our focus this week in Tech is to learn how to use flowcharts during planning coding. A flowchart shows the steps of a problem as boxes of various kinds, and their order is shown by connecting the boxes with arrows. In this DLO shown below, we have practiced creating a flow chart based on rolling dice. 

In this activity we used micro-bits to roll these dices. The flowcharts were based on these micro-bits activities. 

I really enjoyed this weeks Tech learning, because i'm starting to become more familiar and better at coding which will and can benifit my learning. I'm looking forward the the learning next week. 

Identify, Investigate & Evaluate

L.I to use technological practice process to design a toy.

Our focus for this week in inquiry is to create a summary on the following, Identity, Investigate & design. All of these technological practices will help us design our very own rover toy. In our groups we all contributed to summarise the following. Identifying, is finding what the problem is, and how it can be resolved. Investigate is to investigate the different variables that we can use to create a rover that can travel across the floor powered by rubber bands. Designing is using what we found out in the questions, and creating a diagram of our product. 

Our next goal is the Build, Test and Evaluate. 

Rover Mood Board | Toys

 LI: to create a board of ideas that can help us create our own rover

 

Our focus for inquiry this term is Toys and Machines. This also connects to the Mars landing, which was helped by these rovers seen above. The mars landing rovers were created to help investigate a planet that has not been searched. The first succesful mars landing was in December 2nd 1971. This was the first succesful landing out of 50 odd other missions. In this landing there were 4 rovers that were placed on mars, which goes by the name  Curiosity, Spirit, Opportunity, and Sojourner. 

This mood board is to help us have an idea of what we are making by looking at different pictures and putting them onto a mood board.

We enjoyed this task because it helped us to have a good understanding of what we are making and how  we can make them successful.
