Kiwi Sport

L.I is to be safe in water.
This term for Kiwi sport we have been learning how to swim. Swimming is really important because If you are in danger in water you can use the things that the swimming teachers have taught us. We swim at the YMCA pools.

In swimming our teaching wa Geoffrey. First he took the role. He didn't know how to pronounce it so we just said our names. The first thing that Geoffrey taught us was swimming with the board. To swim with the board we had to but or fingers on the tip of the board and paddle to the other side. While you are doing that you also have to but your face underwater because it will make you go faster. We tried it one more time.

The next thing that we did is arm stroking on the board. To arm stroke you need to but your fingers to one side and but your thumb on the other side. Them arm stroked. Arm stroke is when you but one arm backwards around and do it with the other hand. when we did Arm strokes we still had to keep our head down so that we could go faster. We tried it two times to the other platform.

After that we went to the deeper side. On the deeper side we had to do Treading. You use treading if you are going to drown. To tread you have to but your legs in circles and your hands palm in and out. we had to do in thirty seconds without touching the ground.

Another way of doing it is by floating on your back. To float on you back you have to lift yourself of water. We also had to do that in thirty seconds. We took turns one by one.

Later after we finished that we went to the little kids pool. We all had to hold hands and be in a circle. we had to be careful of the walls our we could of hit our heads so there was swimming teachers to supervise.
This week I have learned in Kiwi Sport is how to arm stroke on a board and to tread  for thirty seconds. The hardest one for me I think is the thirty seconds of treading because my legs started to get tired when I was treading.
