LI: To create your own comic strip of an imaginary conversation.
Panmure Bridge School, had the opportunity to compete in the Summer Learning Journey. SLJ is a organization that encourages younger students to keep their learning going, by doing assigned activities, with themes behind them. SLJ has been running for over 5 years, and this is the 6th year currently.
In this activity, we were asked to read a article about four characters.
This is story about two men who go fishing. the First man gets Ocean sick, so he sneezes. He sneezes until his teeth fell out and when it did, The second man started laughing. The second man then pulls out a fish that has teeth in it, and he remembers that person who lost their teeth. He then gives them back to Person 1, but it wasn't his. The Taxi Driver and his Wife had pulled a prank on them, which caused the second man to cause legal action.
In this comic, we saw a video with the same article, so we put it into a comic. Here are the results

The best thing about it is that you have added like a brief summary of the story which is very important for the reader to actually know what we are talking about. I also liked the way you have written your story in your own words through your comic as I can imagine what the characters are saying. I found this activity interesting as I got the chance to portray the story as I wanted. What did you find tricky in this task and why?

I also agree that it was interesting, because we got to choose our ow way of making the chrachters say what they want. What I found tricky about this task was trying to match certain parts of the comic strip to the film so that I get the right parts.

DeleteThank you for answering my question and replying to my comment. I agree, same as you I found the same thing tricky because the article had four characters but the video just has two. The video didn't really show the role of Janet and the taxi driver even though it has the same story. The thing I like the most in this activity was making the comic and filling the text boxes as we could write anything we wanted. Do you have a favourite character in this comic? Who is it and why?

You’ve told the story perfectly! I’m very impressed by how your captions match the facial expressions of the men in the story! It must’ve been a shock to find dentures at the bottom of the ocean? What other sorts of things do you think you might find at the bottom of the sea?
Because you’ve written such a great comic strip, I was wondering, if you could write a comic on absolutely anything, what would you write about? I think I’d write about space adventures and rocket ships, not fishy teeth, though it is pretty funny.
Perhaps you could increase the size of your text so it’s easier for your readers to see.

DeleteSorry for the late reply. Thank you so much for the feedback! I think that I might have found lots of plastic, since plastic plays a big impact on our oceans. I might also find some coins and lost jewleerry if im lucking. I would have probaly wrote a comic strip about Lockdown and my personal experience, because of different things I did in lockdown.

ReplyDeleteWhat are some cool things that you did in lockdown that you would include in your comic? My family played a heap of boardgames and did a lot of baking. It was lots of fun!
I thought it was funny that the man's teeth ended up in a fish. What a funny joke! Imagine being the person to catch that fish, it would be a massive shock!
